The mural behind the bar in the cocktail lounge of Tokyo Garden in Fresno.

Many people have marveled at the mural behind our bar and asked about its origins.

It was painted by Bennett O. Wilson, a former counter-intelligence officer in WWII. Mr. Wilson spent a great deal of time in Japan, but his Japanese painting technique was actually developed here in the Central Valley prior to his service overseas.

His Japanese hosts, however, took a great interest in his artwork and remained his longtime friends. A friendship which eventually led him to Tokyo Garden, where his work remains an admired attraction for all to see.
